Tommy

Tommy was the first purebred Catahoula I ever owned and the first one I ever met.  He passed away on December 23, 2001 at 9 years young. He was a very good dog despite a rough start in life and his absence from the family is still felt.

Tommy is a Catahoula Leopard dog. He is registered with the NALC.

Tommy isn't as well-versed in competition as Lucy... but he did pretty well for him.

The Catahoula Leopard is a cur dog. They were orginally develeoped in the swamps of the south and are still used for hunting hogs, coon, possum, deer, and squirrels. Today they can also be seen in SAR, therapy, agility, obedience, law enforcement, sledding, bear and big cat hunting as well as many other venues. They are the official State Dog of Louisiana and are recognized by several registries including the NALC, LCCA, CCBA, ARF, UKC and can also be shown in the ACA, which is not a registry, but one of the most prominant all-encompassing clubs.

A great Catahoula site is The Catahoula E-zine.
