Have you seen this page yet? Check out Spirit Eagle. It's a great place to check out for all kinds of hikes, especially thru-hikes and other distance hikes. There is a section with regards to leaving dogs at home during a thru, but that doesn't mean the rest of the info should be tossed out (as an aside, not every dog SHOULD be taken on a thru, or even on many trails altogether... but that's a rant for another day).
